JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli-Arab man jumped the southern Israeli security fence and crossed into the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said.

The man, identified as a Bedouin, entered central Gaza on Tuesday, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

He is the third Israeli to enter Gaza and not return. The incident is under investigation, according to the IDF. An Israeli television station reported that the man, whose name and age were not made public, is suffering emotional distress.

Hamas has been holding two Israeli men, an unnamed Bedouin Israeli and an Ethiopian Jew named Avraham Abera Mengistu, who entered separately, for nearly two years. Hamas also is holding the bodies of two Israeli soldiers, Shaul Oren and Hadar Goldin, captured during the 2014 Gaza war.
