IDF, U.S. Marines participate in joint training exercise

JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Israel Defense Forces and U.S. Marines are participating in a bilateral training exercise.

The exercise was preplanned, the IDF said in a statement released on Sunday.

“As with other bilateral exercises conducted with the IDF, this exercise is a routine training exercise and is not associated with or in response to any specific real world events,” the statement said.

The purpose of the exercise, according to the IDF, is to “improve collaboration and interoperability, understanding and cooperation between the IDF and U.S. Forces.”

A contingent of U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy sailors are participating in the exercise, according to the IDF.
