‘Homeland’ to film in Israel

Homeland is the Showtime TV series based on the Israeli series Hatufim (Abducted) created by Gideon Raff. The series stars Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin.

JERUSALEM  — The popular Showtime series “Homeland” will film part of its new season in Israel.

“Homeland,” starring Claire Danes as a CIA operations officer, is based on the Israeli show “Hatufim,” or “Prisoners of War.”

The second season of “Homeland” is set to premiere Sept. 30. Part of the first season also was filmed in Israel.

The show tells the story of an American soldier released from captivity in Iraq and a CIA officer who suspects him of becoming a spy for al-Qaida.
