The international hacker group Anonymous threatened to launch a cyber war against AIPAC.

In a video released Sunday on YouTube — the same day that the American Israel Political Action Committee opened its well-attended annual policy conference — Anonymous called on its followers to attack the AIPAC website and “make them pay for their crimes.”

“AIPAC wants to lobby for more wars, more destruction, more deaths than they have already committed, and unfortunately our president has decided to defend them for it,” the hacker group’s video said. “Our government’s foreign policy has no sovereignty to America. Its sovereignty is to the State of Israel.”

On Sunday morning the AIPAC website was not accessible; AIPAC did not return a call from JTA requesting comment on the situation.

In a Twitter message Sunday, Anonymous appeared to take credit for the AIPAC website’s crash, saying “Gosh, the AIPAC website sure looks TANGO DOWN to us. Wonder why?”

President Obama spoke on Sunday at the AIPAC conference, promising that America “has Israel’s back.”

Anonymous threatened to remove all traces of Israel from the Internet last month when it released a video on YouTube accusing Israel of committing crimes against humanity.
