Egypt seizes explosives en route to Gaza

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Egyptian authorities seized one ton of explosives headed for Gaza.

The record amount of explosives was discovered on a truck during a search at a checkpoint between Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula, Haaretz reported Sunday morning, citing an anonymous security official.

The weapons reportedly are shipped from Libya, and then smuggled from the Sinai to Gaza, according to Haaretz.
