Donilon talks Iran with Israeli counterpart

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Tom Donilon, the U.S. national security adviser, discussed Iran with top Israeli security officials.

Donilon’s meeting Monday with his Israeli counterpart, Yaakov Amidror, and others was the first such meeting since President Obama’s reelection, and signaled the administration’s reassurance to Israel that close coordination on isolating Iran and other issues would continue.

There were “consultations on Iran, Syria, and a range of other regional security issues,” a White House statement said.

“Today’s meetings were the latest in a series of regular, high-level consultations between the United States and Israel, consistent with our strong bilateral partnership, and part of our unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security,” it said.
