JERUSALEM (JTA) — The demolition of about half of a Palestinian village in the West Bank was delayed.

The demolition of  Khirbet  Susiya, a small village near Hebron, had been scheduled for Tuesday morning, but was delayed following an order from the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday evening to postpone the action.

The postponement comes amid international pressure, including a letter sent in January and signed by 300 U.S. Jewish clergy calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to not destroy the buildings deemed to have been constructed illegally.

Some critics have linked the postponement to an upcoming visit over the weekend by White House special advisor Jared Kushner and Mideast peace envoy Jason Greenblatt.

Homes and mobile structures in two Israeli outposts were razed in the last week, however.
