Civilians capture Palestinian teen after he stabs Israeli man

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian teen stabbed and critically wounded an Israeli man in his 50s in an attack in Givat Ze’ev, a West Bank settlement located near Jerusalem.

Civilian bystanders reportedly chased and captured the 17-year-old assailant after the attack late Wednesday night in front of a gas station at the entrance to the neighborhood, according to the Israel Police. The assailant carried a second knife with him. He reportedly was lightly injured in the scuffle with bystanders. At least one bystanbder called out “Death to Arabs,” Ynet reportd.

The victim was rushed to an operating room at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

The attacker was later identided as  Abada Abu Ras, 17, from the nearby Palestinian village of Bir Nabala.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Palestinian teen was arrested after he allegedy attempted to stab a soldier at the Qalandia checkpoint near Jerusalem.
