(JTA) — A Brooklyn math professor has sired 22 children over the last 18 years, sometimes procuring the sperm in a Target men’s bathroom.
Ari Nagel, 40, has provided his sperm both through intercourse or in a cup to lesbian couples and single women looking to have a baby who cannot afford the expense of a sperm bank, the New York Post reported Sunday.
Nagel is a math professor at CUNY Kingsborough. He has donated his sperm to both Caucasian and African-American women.
“This isn’t time-consuming, and I’m doing it anyway,” he says of his trips to Target. “It’s very easy for me to do.” Usually the recipient takes the sperm in a menstrual cup and immediately inserts it in the Target ladies room, according to the Post. Many of the women are more comfortable meeting Nagel in a public place than in his apartment near downtown Brooklyn, according to the newspaper.
“I’m not doing it for easy action,” Nagel told the Post. “Isn’t that what Tinder is for?”
Nagel attributes his success in helping women conceive to his high sperm count.
He offers his sperm for free. And he told the Post the free service and his high sperm count, as well as his good looks and attractive personality are what make his sperm so popular.
Nagel said he was raised in an Orthodox Jewish family with six siblings, and through his sperm donations can have a lot of children and still sleep at night.
“I just love seeing how happy the moms and kids are . . . That’s why I do this. It’s the gift that keeps on giving,”” he told the Post.
He said he baby-sits for some of the kids and attends birthday parties, and was present at some of the deliveries.
He has successfully been sued for child support five times and told the Post that half of his paycheck is garnished for child support. He told the newspaper that the women all promise in advance that they won’t sue.
He has kids in Florida, Illinois, Virginia, Connecticut and Israel, and said he does not regret any of them.
Her reportedly currently is talking with several women looking to conceive.
