British neo-Nazi group members vandalize Jewish mounument

(JTA) — Members of a British neo-Nazi group filmed themselves defacing a Jewish monument in Birmingham in west central England and then posted the clip on YouTube.

The vandals from the National Action hate group hung a swastika flag and a poster of their organization over the large menorah located in Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham, England, and painted anti-Semitic graffiti on the monument as well as  on the park gates. Their faces are blurred and they are wearing gloves so as not to leave fingerprints.

The video shows the vandals spray-painting a Jewish Star of David on the park gates, and writing “bankers” and ”1%.”

One per cent of the German population was Jewish before the Holocaust, according to the Birmingham Mail.

West Midlands Police began investigating the attack after the video was posted on YouTube last week, the Mail reported.

The monument is maintained by the area’s Chabad-Lubavitch group, and it is lit every year on Chanukah.
