Bomb-making material found in Bangkok

Some 400 boxes of urea and ammonium nitrate hidden in boxes for electric fans were discovered Monday in a store about 30 miles south east of Bangkok.

Police learned of the cache from a Lebanese man arrested Jan. 13, alleged to be working with Hezbollah to plan a bombing attack. He told Thai police that the material was to be smuggled out of Thailand and used in an attack in another country.

Israel’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau issued a warning to Israelis over the weekend to stay away from Bangkok. The United States and nine other countries also issued warnings about travel to Thailand. It is believed Hezbollah terrorists are preparing an attack ahead of the Feb. 12 anniversary of the assassination of Hezbollah chief Imad Mughniyeh.
