Bomb detonates near Israeli army vehicles at border with Lebanon

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A bomb was detonated near two Israeli army vehicles patrolling near the border with Lebanon.

No Israeli soldiers were hurt in the attack, for which Hezbollah reportedly has claimed responsibility.

The Israel Defense Forces responded with what it called “targeted” shelling into Lebanon.

The attack comes less than a month after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah vowed revenge on Israel for the death of Hezbollah operative Samir Kuntar, who spent three decades in an Israeli prison for a deadly terror attack before being released in a 2008 prisoner swap. Kuntar was killed in an airstrike that Hezbollah has blamed on Israel.
