Armed men hold captive tourists in Sinai
Published March 22, 2013
(JTA) — Armed men in the Sinai are holding captive two tourists, at least one of them Israeli, according to reports.
A number of Israeli and Arab language outlets reported that armed Bedouin in a car on Friday rammed another car on the road from Taba, on Israel’s border, to Dahab, a Red Sea resort, and captured at gunpoint at least two tourists.
Some reports have identified one of the tourists as an Arab Israeli and the other as a Norwegian; others have said that both tourists are Israeli.
Security in the Sinai has deteriorated since the overthrow in 2011 of that country’s dictatorship.
