Al-Qaida affiliated militant killed in Israeli airstrike

(JTA) — An overnight Israeli airstrike against a group attempting to fire rockets into Israel killed a leader of the Al-Qaida-affiliated Army of Islam.
One person was killed in the Friday morning airstrike and five were injured, The Jerusalem Post reported, citing Palestinian news outlet Al Resalah.
The Israel Defense Forces reported that the deceased man was Muaman Abu-daf, a commander of the al-Qaida-affiliated Army of Islam. According to the IDF, Abu-daf had been involved in a recent thwarted terrorist strike on the Egyptian-Israeli border.
