JERUSALEM (JTA) — A West Bank Palestinian man has been indicted for attempted murder for a stabbing attack in northern Israel.

Tarak Yahya, 20, stabbed a soldier and a civilian on Oct. 8 in Afula. Civilian bystanders restrained him following attack and held him until police arrived. He then had to be protected from civilians who tried to attack him.

He told police he bought a knife and went to Afula to stab Jews after seeing a call on social media for attacks on Jews, Times of Israel reported.

He was indicted in Nazareth District Court on Monday. The indictment also identified an accomplice, a resident of the Arab-Israeli town of Umm al-Fahm, who drove Yahya to Afula.
