(JTA) — Three Palestinians were killed during a fresh wave of protests in the West Bank.

One of the Palestinians, a 22-year-old man identified by the Ma’an news agency as Tayeb Abu Shehada, was killed Friday during riots near the Hawara checkpoint on the outskirts of Nablus, Haaretz reported. According to Ma’an, he was shot dead by Israeli troops.

His death came shortly after the slaying of Khaled Azmi Khaled Yousef, 18, at Hawara. According to Haaretz, Yousef died shortly after a settler who is living in the area fired a firearm, allegedly out of fear for her life. According to Haaretz, the settler, a woman, said she fired three warning shots in the air with her barrel pointing upwards. She was taken into custody by Israeli troops for questioning.

Three other people were wounded in clashes near the Hawara checkpoint, where Palestinians blocked the road as part of protests over Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank. Israeli troops used crowd dispersal means to open the road to traffic.

A third Palestinian man died during clashes between protesters and Israeli troops at Bayt Umar near Hebron. Ma’an identified him as Hashem Abu Maria, 47.

Palestinians also hurled stones at police in east Jerusalem in riots that broke out after Friday prayers, Army Radio reported. Two police officers sustained minor injuries in the clashes in the Old City and Wadi Joz. One suspect was arrested.
