JERUSALEM (JTA) — Three Palestinians carrying a rifle, knives and an explosive device wounded at least two Israelis outside the Old City of Jerusalem.

One of the Israeli victims was critically wounded in the Wednesday afternoon attack and a second was in serious condition, according to reports immediately following the attack. The two wounded have been identified by police as Border Police officers. They were taken to Hadassah Hospital at Mount Scopus.

The three attackers were shot and killed by security services, according to the Israel Police.   They are from the Jenin area in the West Bank, according to police.

The attack occurred at the Damascus Gate leading into the Old City.

The attackers were stopped by Border Police, who asked to see their identification documents. While one of the attacks took out his documents, the second took out his gun and shot up the area, according to police.

Police believe the men were planning a larger attack, however.
