3 Israelis seriously injured in stabbing attack at Jaffa Gate

JERUSALEM (JTA) — At least three Israelis were seriously injured in a stabbing attack carried out by two assailants at the Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem.

One of the victims in the Wednesday afternoon attack was in critical condition and being resuscitated at the scene and two others were taken to Jerusalem hospitals in serious condition, according to reports.

There were two attackers who were both shot by Border Police at the scene, according to Israel Police. One of the attackers was killed and the other injured, according to Israel Police spokesman Micky Roesnfeld.

Jaffa Gate is a main entrance gate into the Jerusalem’s Old City, located at the end of the popular Mamilla Mall; David’s Tower is also located near the gate, as is the entrance to the Old City’s Arab market. Many tourists can be found milling around the area, especially during the Christmas season.
