Women’s Philanthropy

ABOVE LEFT AND RIGHT: From April 23 to 25, Women’s Philanthropy (a part of Jewish Federation of St. Louis) brought 26 women to the East Coast to see New York City through a Jewish lens. Highlights of the trip included visiting the Eldridge Street Synagogue (the first great house of worship building in America by Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe), dinner at Famous Sammy’s Romanian restaurant where they ate Jewish foods and danced the hora, a visit to the 9-11 memorial, an insightful tour of Ellis and Liberty Islands to learn about our ancestors’ journey to the United States, the hilarious off-Broadway play, “Not That Jewish,” and the opportunity to visit the Museum of Jewish Heritage on Yom HaShoah and hear a story from a Holocaust survivor.
