Will Britney Spears save Amanda Bynes?

** STRICTLY NO NY DAILIES**Amanda Bynes appears in court in NYC charged with allegedly throwing a bong from her apartment windowThe meltdown of the once beloved Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes is still going on, and it still feels like sitting next to a crying baby on a plane – it’s annoying, it’s painful, it’s slow and we are stuck with it for what seems like eternity.

But hey, we might as well report about it.

So in case you missed it here is the latest:

Last Thursday, Bynes was arrested after NYPD cops claimed she threw a bong out of her midtown Manhattan apartment. Bynes claimed she was sexually harassed by New York’s finest during the arrest.

The following day, these photos of her arrest were released, and if that’s not enough (can it please be enough? “no it can’t,” says Amanda Bynes), on Sunday, Amanda unleashed an inexplicable Twitter war against Rihanna, saying, “no one wants to be your lover so you call everyone and their mother that I almost named my new dog Rihanna.” She later deleted the tweets, not before getting a response from RiRi: “Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?”

Zing.

In the days since, Amanda got in a Twitter feud with Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigan, who dared criticizing  Amanda, saying, “The fact that Amanda Bynes has any ‘support’ to retweet is really unsettling. Support people with mental illness, yes. But don’t condone/enable scary and poor behavior.” Amanda, of course, replied by saying that Teigen is an “old ugly model,” despite being the same age.

Had enough? Nope!

Today Amanda turned to Perez Hilton and wished that he would kill himself:

Anyway, after the longest intro to a post ever, Australian blog Celebrity Fix is claiming that Britney Spears turned to Bynes and offered to help Bynes through the steps she took when she had a public breakdown a few years ago – having her parents take guardianship over her.

“Britney had a brief conversation with Amanda the week before her arrest and promised to personally help Amanda get her career back on track by helping her record music,” says the source.

“Britney also opened up to Amanda about her painful breakdown and about how she was so against her dad taking out a conservatorship – but she told Amanda that it wound up being a life, career and fortune saver.”

Will Brit help Amanda? The human in me says I hope so, the celebrity reporter in me says probably not.
