Saying farewell to the graduating seniors on the Ohr Chadash staff
Published May 14, 2014
It has become an Ohr Chadash tradition to have the staff’s graduating seniors write about their time with the Light’s Teen Page, and share their plans for college. Here are the four seniors to whom we’ll say farewell.
Annie Cohen
I’ve had such a wonderful experience being on Ohr Chadash for the past two years, both as a writer and as an editor. I have enjoying exploring my Jewish identity while simultaneously growing as a writer and leader. I will be attending New York University next year, and I look forward to new and exciting endeavors in journalism, Judaism, and beyond. Thanks to everybody who has worked so hard to make the teen page spectacular, and good luck to next year’s staff!

I had the privilege of working on the Ohr Chadash teen page this past year as the Online Editor and Photographer. Next year, I will take a gap year in Israel on a program called Shaalvim for Women, during which I will learn and tour the country. The following year, I plan to return to America and attend Stern College in New York City, where I hope to study graphic design and put to work all the great skills I learned from the Ohr Chadash teen page.

This publication has taught me leadership, organization and writing skills that I will take advantage of for years to come. Ohr Chadash was a great way for me to give back to my community and meet some incredible St. Louis teens. My favorite memories are definitely our team bonding over the summer and our brainstorming during monthly meetings. When I head off to Duke University in North Carolina this fall, I hope to continue my work with student newspapers, though I am completely undecided on what I will study. I want to thank the Jewish Light and everyone involved with the teen page for making it such a great experience.

I joined Ohr Chadash as a writer last year. I loved getting to explore and write about different topics surrounding the Jewish community. In the fall I will attend Northeastern University in Boston to study either communications or the music industry.
