5 Kosher Options to Try in St. Louis
Published September 29, 2014
While St. Louis doesn’t have many kosher restaurant options, it does have a few. What follows are five area eateries, each of which boast an all-kosher menu.
1. Gokul Indian Resaurant, 6101 Delmar Boulevard
In the mood for something a little different? Try Gokul, an Indian Restaurant in the Delmar Loop. With low prices and a diverse menu, this restaurant is not only kosher, but also 100 percent vegetarian. It’s also St. Louis’ only kosher Indian restaurant.
2. Central Café and Bakery, 331 N. Euclid Avenue
Nestled along the main drag of Euclid Avenue in the Central West End, Central Bakery and Café offers everything from pizza and salad to hummus and falafel. Not too hungry? This restaurant also offers many baked goods as well as hot tea and coffee. Another bonus: the vegan menu.
3. Kohn’s Kosher Meat & Deli, 10405 Old Olive Street Road
If you’re a Jew in St. Louis, chances are, you’ve eaten Kohn’s more than a few times. Kohn’s offers catering for large parties and events, but also provides a perfect place to stop and grab a deli sandwich or plate. It also has a cart at Busch Stadium (near section 148 on the main concourse) that sells kosher hot dogs, knishes and corned beef and pastrami sandwiches.
4. Breadsmith, 10031 Manchester Road
With its location on the lively Manchester strip in Kirkwood, Breadsmith combines a variety of kosher breads and pastries with its upbeat décor. The bakery’s bread is perfect on sandwiches, or paired with soup or salad (or just by itself for a snack).
5. Make it yourself
St. Louis has several grocery stores that offer kosher options, including Trader Joe’s, Dierbergs, Schnucks, Straub’s and Costco, and pick up some ingredients to make your own meal at home. Cooking at home is also a great way to bring the family together!
