Faith leaders and social justice advocates Rev. Traci Blackmon and Rabbi Susan Talve delivered this year’s Rabbi Ferdinand Isserman Memorial Lecture, held at Graham Chapel, Washington University. They discussed “Making Space for Grace: Hearing Voices that Cry Out from the Intersections of Racism, Sexism, and Heterosexism,” looking at ways to work toward advancing equal participation in a more just community. During his long tenure as rabbi of Temple Israel, from 1929 through 1964, Rabbi Isserman touched the lives of legions of people from all walks of life and believers in all different creeds, and left a legacy that includes this lectureship, which was created by friends and family in his memory after his death in 1972.
