Marty Oberman to be honored for his legacy of hope and community service

Marty Oberman.

The Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis is set to honor Marty Oberman with the 2024 Peggy Nelson Esperanza Award at the CSCSTL Steps For Hope walk on May 4 at Creve Coeur Park. Marty, a CSCSTL board member for over 30 years, has held numerous leadership roles, including Board chair from 2000-2003.

Peggy Nelson, a key mentor to Marty, inspired his ongoing dedication and successful fundraising efforts for CSCSTL, which offers its services free of charge. His commitment has strengthened community relationships and secured crucial support, such as The Staenberg Family Foundation as presenting sponsor for Steps For Hope.

Marty’s comprehensive, client-focused approach in the financial services industry mirrors his active volunteerism, including his role as President of the Jewish Community Center and his work with the St. Louis Senior Olympics. The Peggy Nelson Esperanza Award, created in 2023, honors Peggy’s legacy of hope and community service.
