YI to honor Strashuns at annual dinner

Young Israel of St. Louis will present “An Evening of Entertainment” on Sunday, Feb. 13. The synagogue will honor Dr. Robert and Barbara Strashun at the annual dinner, which will take place at Young Israel, 8101 Delmar Boulevard, beginning with cocktails at 5 p.m. The evening will feature a gourmet dinner and a special concert performance by Shir Soul, featuring David Ross, a Jewish rhythm and blues group direct from New York.

The dinner is co-chaired by Adinah Raskas and Jan Adelman, who praised the Strashuns. “Whenever they are asked to do something, they do it. At times, they have done things for the shul, even without being asked. They have seen needs and just filled them. They are truly worthy honorees and I feel blessed to be able to co-chair the dinner that honors them,” said Adelman.

Rabbi Moshe Shulman praised the honorees’ involvement at Young Israel. “The Strashuns have involved themselves in many aspects of our shul and community for many years, never seeking recognition, and working purely for the love of our community. The list of activities is vast, but suffice to say the decision to honor them was well received by everyone. We are fortunate to have them as members of our shul, and welcome the entire community to join us as we celebrate together.”

Tickets are $120. For more information or to RSVP, contact Young Israel at [email protected], or 314-727-1880. An ad journal is also being compiled for those who wish to honor the Strashuns.
