Women’s Philanthropy hosts volunteer events

Women’s Philanthropy of Jewish Federation of St. Louis is hosting a volunteer opportunity to enhance the holidays for individuals feeling isolated from the Jewish community. Volunteers will make care packages to be delivered to these individuals for Hanukkah. Women’s Philanthropy has scheduled two assembly times:

• Monday, Nov. 30, 6:30 p.m., drinks and desserts provided

• Wednesday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m., drinks and snacks provided

A portion of the bags will benefit the Jewish Family and Children’s Service (JF&CS) Chaplaincy Program. Thanks to the Women’s Auxiliary Foundation for Jewish Aged, gift bags created by Women’s Philanthropy will also be given to B’nai Amoona, Central Reform Congregation and Temple Emanuel to distribute to their elderly members to alleviate feelings of isolation and make them feel more connected to their congregation and the Jewish community.

Women’s Philanthropy also is hosting a Hanukkah Hugs toy drive to collect new books, toys and gifts for children 1-18 years old for families served by JF&CS. To see what presents are needed, visit: http://bit.ly/hh-toy-drive. Toys can be brought to the packaging events; purchased through Amazon.com and sent directly to Jewish Federation, Attention: Laura Fields; or dropped off at the Jewish Federation building, 12 Millstone Campus Dr., by Dec. 4.
