Women to hold fifth annual community ‘Shower’ April 17

Jewish Federation of St. Louis’ Women’s Philanthropy will host their fifth annual Shower Our Community with Love event at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School, 348 S. Mason Road in Creve Coeur.

At the shower, the women will participate in projects that benefit multiple generations locally and in Israel. Projects include packing care packages for families in need at the JCC Early Childhood Center, making blankets for participants at the JCC Adult Day Services Program and crafting bracelets for displaced girls in Israel.

Diane Katzman said a recent trip to Israel moved her to help Orr Shalom, which is an Israeli non-profit organization providing residential and therapeutic services to children and youth at risk who have been removed from their homes by the social welfare services due to severe abuse and/or neglect. Katzman is donating beads for a bracelet she designed for the girls of Orr Shalom and which will be made by participants of the Shower Our Community with Love event.

The cost is $10, and donations of baby items will be taken at the door. Dessert and wine will be served. The event is chaired by Anna Reby Bertman and Lisa Suffian. To register, go to www.jewishinstlouis.org/womensphilanthropy.  For more information, call 314-442-3806 or email [email protected].
