As the war in Israel continues into its third day, the St. Louis Jewish community can help those affected by the violence and destruction. The Jewish Federation of St. Louis has launched the Israel Emergency Fund to provide services, support, and hope for our friends and family in Israel.
“Alongside our 20-plus community partners in Israel, Federation is working to support victims of terror, help rebuild damaged infrastructure, and address the unprecedented levels of trauma caused by this horrific attack,” the Federation stated on its website.
“100% of your support goes to the victims of this crisis in Israel. Your donation will be used with Jewish agencies who are already on the ground to provide immediate response for medical care, housing and for families and individuals who have been impacted by these acts of terror.”
St. Louis Israel Solidarity Gathering
All are invited to gather and show support for Israel and its people, and for all those in our community grieving and suffering from this violent conflict at the St. Louis Israel Solidarity Gathering on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center near Creve Coeur.
“We stand with Israel completely at this time. The best thing we can do is to make sure that they and the world understand the need for support at what has happened –that terrorism is not acceptable,” said Brian Herstig, CEO and president of Federation.
“As a Federation, our role is to support the needs of Jews anywhere in the world when the need arises. Right now, our brothers and sisters in Israel need us in a way they have never had before. This is a unique opportunity for us to step forth.
“The simplest and most direct way to help them at this time is to provide the funds they need to provide short-term medical care, long-term trauma care, rebuilding infrastructure. Those are what our dollars are going to go toward but as other needs arise and we are made aware of them, we will absolutely be communicating and helping to coordinate where we can in order to meet the needs the Israeli people have.”
What you can do to support Israel in this time of war

Shortly after the Hamas attack began, the Biden administration reassured Israel’s government of the United States’ commitment, by announcing it was sending additional munitions to Israel and moving Navy warships closer to the country in a show of support. At the same time there have been calls from some in Congress to limit, or even end all military support.
The Pentagon announced on Sunday that it was sending additional munitions to Israel and moving Navy warships closer to the country in a show of support, a day after Palestinian militants launched one of the broadest invasions on Israeli territory in 50 years.
“Support your community and support Israel by contacting your elected officials,” said Jordan Kadosh, Regional…. “You can write to them, you can tell them that you support the US-Israel alliance. You can ask for the new ambassador, whose nomination has been pending, to be approved.”
