URJ, Reform congregations offer Intro to Judaism class

A special class for those in an interfaith relationship, considering conversion to Judaism or who simply want to learn more about Judaism will begin in October. “Introduction to Judaism” is sponsored by the Union for Reform Judaism and the Reform rabbis and congregations of St. Louis.

Anyone interested in gaining adult-level introductory knowledge of Judaism is invited to take the 16-week session on Tuesday nights at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman Boulevard.

Topics to be covered included Jewish holidays and life cycle events, theology and prayer, Israel, history and Hebrew. The instructors for the session are Rabbis Susan Talve, Randy Fleisher, Lane Steinger and Justin Kerber.

Classes will be from 7-9 p.m. and will begin Oct. 1. The enrollment cost of $275 for an individual, and $325 for couples, includes 16 class sessions, all materials, an all-day “Learning Hebrew Marathon,” and a certificate upon successful completion. Students must have a sponsoring or referring rabbi.
