United Hebrew to celebrate Pride Month with Shabbat speaker

United Hebrew Congregation begins celebrating Pride Month with a special Shabbat service at 6 p.m. Friday, June 2.  Guest speaker Elizabeth Schlesinger will discuss her experiences as a member of the LGBTQ community and ways to be allies and partners in creating a community and country that values the civil rights of all. UH members and members of the Jewish community can participate in the St. Louis PrideFest Parade on Sunday, June 25.

Schlesinger, a lifelong congregant of United Hebrew, is an estate planning attorney in the St. Louis office of Bryan Cave, LLP. She serves on the national Board of Governors of the Human Rights Campaign, the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization, and also participates in QJews, a St. Louis peer lead community for Jews identifying as LGBTQ.
