Traditional Congregation welcomes scholar in residence
Traditional Congregation’s annual Scholar in Residence program welcomes Eric Goldstein, author of “The Price of Whiteness: Jews, Race and American Identity” and editor of the American Jewish History journal. Goldstein will give three presentations during the weekend:
• Saturday, Dec. 14: 1 p.m. (following Shabbat services and kiddush): “Are Jews White?” as well as a 7:30 p.m. talk on “The Shtetl: An Anatomy of How Jews Really Lived in the Small Towns of Eastern Europe,” followed at 8:30 p.m. by a light buffet (meat/vegetarian).
• Sunday, Dec. 15: Brunch at 9:45 a.m., presentation at 10:45 on “Assessing the State of African American-Jewish Relations on the Local and National Scenes: A Conversation with Dr. Eric Goldstein and Batya Abramson-Goldstein.”
There is no charge for the 1 p.m. Dec. 14 presentation; other events are $12/person; RSVP to Marian Gordon, 314-576-5230, by Dec. 9. Traditional Congregation is located at 12437 Ladue Road in Creve Coeur.
