The community is invited to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the State of Israel by joining the Temple Israel Israel Support Committee and the Israeli House at Temple Israel on Sunday, April 6 for a St. Louis Premiere Mini-Israeli Film Festival.
The 3 p.m. film, Someone to Run With (PG-13) , features Assaf, a shy 17 year-old, tracking down the owner of a lost Labrador through the streets of Jerusalem … a story of self-discovery and first love. Following the first film, light homemade Israeli refreshments will be served. The 6 p.m. film Beaufort (R), tells the story of a 22 year-old outpost commander and his troops in the months before Israel pulled out of Lebanon.
Someone to Run With won several 2006 Israeli Academy Awards, and Beaufort was a 2007 U.S. Academy Award nominee. Both films are in Hebrew, with English subtitles. Following the film Beaufort at 8 p.m., there will be an Israeli-led panel and discussion.
The two films, discussion and refreshments are free of charge, but seating is limited. Reservations are required. To make your reservation, call Roseann at the Temple Israel office at 314-432-8050 before April 1. For more information about the April 6 event, call Tali Stadler at 314-680-4799.
