The J plans Vegas-style fundraiser

What happens in Vegas will soon happen at Meadowbrook Country Club — at Jeans, Jewels & The J, an evening to benefit the Jewish Community Center on Saturday, Nov. 5.

A committee, led by “pit bosses” Julie B. Stern and Erin Schuver, have planned a “glitzy good time,” with casino games, live entertainment and plenty of food and beverages. Winning bidders at a live auction during the event could walk away with items that include jewelry, art and a puppy. Tickets to the event include chips that can be cashed out for chances to win deluxe gift baskets and other prizes.

“The J changes lives every day by helping meet the very real needs of our community,” said Schuver in a news release.

“Supporting this evening means helping the J provide scholarship for financially stressed families, hot meals to homebound seniors and respite for exhausted caregivers.”

Stern added, “Some of the most critical services the J provides, such as financial and physical assistance for people with disabilities, just wouldn’t be possible without our support. We invite our community to come for a great time and know that they’re supporting a very necessary organization.”

In addition to dinner, dancing, gaming and socializing, attendees will also help honor the J’s past presidents, who have led the agency through more than 135 years of growth and success.

“I hope we see familiar faces and make new friends at this sensational new event,” said Lynn Wittels, the J’s President & CEO. Our committee has planned an evening with very broad appeal, and I can promise fun for all – and possibly an Elvis sighting, too.”

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Event details and ticket information cost can be found at jccstl.com/jjj, or by contacting Staci Gerchen at [email protected] or 314-442-3109. Advance registration is required. The event is supported by The Kuhn Foundation and The Staenberg Family Foundation.
