• Yom Hazikaron Ceremony: At 7 p.m. Sunday, April 30, the St. Louis Jewish community will gather at the J’s Arts & Education Building at the Staenberg Family Complex, 2 Millstone Campus Drive, to honor and remember those that have fallen in defense of the State of Israel or from acts of terror. Readings, poems and songs will be in English and Hebrew. For more information, contact Rabbi Brad Horwitz at the J: 314-442-3271 or [email protected].
• Yom Ha’atzmaut Israel Celebration: In celebration of Israel’s 69th anniversary the community is invited to attend an evening of entertainment and fun at the J’s Staenberg Family Complex on Monday, May 1. This year will feature performances by visiting vocal artist Eleanor Tallie as well as local musicians including Will Soll and Hashemesh. Families with children ages 5 and under are invited at 4:30 p.m. for special young children’s activities such as face painting, balloon animals, photo booth, carnival games, and arts and crafts. Doors open to the public at 6 p.m., at which time an authentic Israeli dinner by Chef Eli Harir will be available for purchase and further activities will continue. Stage entertainment will start at 7 p.m. This event is free to the community due to the support of Jewish Federation of St. Louis. It is presented by The Ruth & Harold Sher Center of Jewish Life.
