Temple Israel holds ‘Make a Splash’ weekend

Temple Israel will hold a “Make a Splash” weekend for new and prospective members and anyone interested in learning more about the congregation. The weekend will begin with a summer casual Kabbalat Shabbat service on Friday, Aug. 24. Wine and appetizers will be served at 6 p.m. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature music by HaShemesh.  Rabbi Amy Feder will speak on “How to Vote Jewish.” An oneg shabbat will follow the service.  All ages are welcome and complimentary babysitting is available, if desired. No RSVP is necessary.

The congregation will hold a Family Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Activities will include swimming in the congregation’s in-ground pool, arts and crafts, outdoor games and parent and child activities.  Parents can learn about Temple Israel’s Deutsch Early Childhood Center preschool program and its new integrated Hebrew and Religious School program. Visitors may enjoy a dinner of grilled hot dogs and hamburgers. The evening will wind down with Havdalah, singing and s’mores at 6:30 p.m.

There is no cost to attend the open house.
