Sukkot event set for Stacy Park

Chabad of Greater St. Louis will sponsor its community-wide family Sukkot event on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Stacy Park, located on Old Bonhomme Road, just south of Olive Blvd. in Olivette.

The Sukkah-Fest is Chabad’s fifth annual community Sukkot event, which in past years has attracted several hundred participants from throughout the community.

The upcoming Sukkah-Fest event will feature live music by the Ruach-On-The-River Band, holiday craft projects for the kids, inflatable rides, kite flying, face painting and great food for the entire family.

A community-size sukkah will be erected, adjacent to the large Stacy Park pavilion, especially for the Sept. 30 event.

Sukkot celebrations such as this, known as Simchat Bet Hashoevah, are popular in Jewish communities around the world.

They customarily commemorate the unbridled rejoicing which traditionally highlighted the Sukkot Festival during the Temple’s times in ancient Jerusalem.

Admission to the event is free, with nominal charges for the food and rides.

Sponsorship opportunities for the family event are still available.
