Staenberg Family Foundation provides grant opportunities to ‘Do Anything’

The Staenberg Family Foundation, a supporting Foundation of Jewish Federation of St. Louis, is continuing the Anything Grants program after a successful funding cycle last year.

The Staenberg Family Foundation was founded in 2005 by Michael and Carol Staenberg to ensure that the Jewish community, as well as the greater St. Louis region, thrives and flourishes. Their foundation’s highest funding priority has been supporting services, projects and programs directed toward creating a thriving Jewish community. The foundation’s other significant areas of interest are services, projects and programs relating to arts and culture, children, education and medical research to better the St. Louis metropolitan area.

The grants, aimed at helping agencies and organizations raise funds for a variety of needs, will provide funds for projects in the areas of infrastructure, capital improvements, new and ongoing programs, technology and more. The foundation will award $50,000 in grants to local Jewish organizations, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per grant. Each grant will be equal to 50 percent of the project budget; organizations are responsible for raising the remaining 50 percent from other sources.

Founder Michael Staenberg said “the Anything Grants were created to help organizations of all sizes and make a difference in the community.” Carol Staenberg noted that tzedakah is a core value in Judaism. “Our children are the next generation and it’s really important that we teach them the importance of giving to others.”

Last year, Yeshivat Kadimah High School received an Anything Grant to fill in a gap for science education. “You can’t do high school science without a lab. It was a critical need that we did not have the resources for, and the Anything Grant was the perfect solution,” recalls Rabbi Moshe Shulman, Head of School.

Anything Grant applications are being accepted through Feb. 27 at JFedSTL.org/AnythingGrants. Members of the Staenberg Family Foundation will evaluate proposals and will announce the winners by the end of April 2015. For information, contact Mindee Fredman at [email protected]. The 2015 Anything Grants are in honor of Tom Green for his years of service and dedication to the Staenberg Family Foundation and the St. Louis Jewish Community.
