Join the National Council of Jewish Women-St. Louis for their EmpowHER series on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. and enjoy a lively panel discussion featuring St. Louis Jewish Light Editor-in-Chief Ellen Futterman, Public Relations Professional Mindy Mazur and Teacher Amanda Stein as they share their perspectives on successfully balancing work, family and other commitments. The discussion will be moderated by Barbara Barnholtz, who also is serving as a host, along with Lisa Oxenhandler, NCJWSTL Vice President of Leadership Mindy Grossmann and NCJWSTL President Phyllis Langsdorf.
Enjoy light bites from 5-5:30 p.m. followed by the panel discussion and a Q&A from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Coeur De Royale Clubhouse, 551 Coeur De Royale Dr., in Creve Coeur.

About the panelists
Futterman has been editor-in-chief of the Jewish Light for the past 17 years, where she is responsible for overseeing editorial operations, including managing both staff members and freelancers. Prior to the Light, she was an editor and reporter at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for 25 years. She is also president of the American Jewish Press Association. Futterman is married to retired middle school principal Jeff Burkett. They have three adult children and two grandchildren, all living in St. Louis.
Mazur is managing partner of Lents Mazur & Associates, responsible for business development, operations and account management. An active volunteer, she is the 2023-2024 president of the Mizzou Alumni Association Board of Directors. She’s the founder of Hired Up! Missouri, an interactive database, used by LeadMO 501(c)(3), which connects do-good people with do-good work. She lives with her partner, Jeff, and their twin daughters.
Stein is currently a third-grade teacher at Iveland Elementary in the Ritenour School District and the 2024-2025 vice president of development at NCJWSTL. She and her husband Michael have an almost 3-year-old daughter.
