The Jewish War Veterans annual Memorial Day service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 28, in the Jewish Federation Building, 12 Millstone Campus Dr. Earlier in the morning volunteers will place more than 4,500 new American flags at the grave sites of identified Jewish war veterans in area cemeteries. Shoah workshop set
A model workshop for Holocaust survivors who think they might be interested in participating in the Memory Project will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center in the Jewish Federation Building, 12 Millstone Campus Dr. The workshop project kicks off on Wednesday, July 12. The workshop is open to those with little or no writing experience as well as experienced writers.
Tour de Fun coming up
The Jewish Community Center’s Annual Tour de Fun is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the JCC, 2 Millstone Campus Drive. The cost is $10 per child, free for adults. For more information, to sign up or to volunteer, visit www.tourdefun.com or contact Sara Winkelman at 314-442-3268.
JCC honors Marc Alper
The 126th annual meeting of the St. Louis Jewish Community Center will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, June 5, at the Marilyn Fox Building in Chesterfield. The JCC will install board chairman Michael Staenberg and present the Richard S. Weiss President’s Award to Marc Alper. Reservations may be made by calling 314-442-3132. The cost for the event is $20 per person. Dietary laws observed.
Book discussion planned
Nancy Berg, associate professor of Hebrew and comparative literature in Jewish and Near Eastern Studies at Washington University, will discuss the book A Tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the Brodsky Library, 12 Millstone Campus Dr. Admission is free to members of the Friends of the Brodsky Library and $5 per person for others. Maccabi Sports Day set
The JCC Sports, Recreation and Aquatics Department will host the Junior Maccabi Sports Day Event on Sunday, June 25 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Fox Building.
