Spiritual support group for Jews with mental illness

Achraiyut, a support group for Jewish persons with a mental illness, will meet from 7:15 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at Congregation Neve Shalom, 1240 Dautel Lane in Creve Coeur. The group is designed for those who have taken the first step toward responsibility by accepting their mental illness and receiving treatment to achieve the greatest possible state of wellness. The group meets on the first Monday of each month. There is no charge for attending the meetings. The group will be facilitated by a person who is living with a mental illness. It is not a therapy group, but rather a support group that is based on encouragement and positive feedback. For more information, call (314) 994-1542. Achraiyut is an offshoot of JAMI-STL, a Jewish initiative that has been created to provide support and services for Jewish persons with mental illness and their families.
