Songleader Boot Camp offers new speaker series Feb. 16-17

Jewish professionals and lay leaders in St. Louis are invited to the Songleader Boot Camp (SLBC) Premier Speaker Series, an opportunity to learn from top national Jewish leaders. The speaker series is free and events will be held at the Jewish Community Center Staenberg Family Complex, Arts & Education Building, 2 Millstone Campus Drive, Creve Coeur.

Rabbi Micah Greenstein, spiritual leader of Temple Israel in Memphis, and Billy Jonas, nationally touring music artist and educator, will discuss “Unlocking the Key to Jewish Outreach” at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. They will explore how Jewish leaders can create effective engagement opportunities for interfaith, young adult and unaffiliated Jews, and create relationships with other Jewish and non-Jewish organizations outside their organizations’ own Jewish settings.

Rabbi Sharon Brous, spiritual leader of IKAR in Los Angeles, named most influential rabbi in the nation by Newsweek and the Daily Beast, will present, “Authentic and Inspirational Jewish Leadership” at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17. Brous will present ways synagogue or school communities can be transformed through a unique and different approach to Jewish leadership. She will share how she was able to successfully build and transform a community through this approach.

RSVPs requested to Rabbi Brad Horwitz at [email protected].

The speaker series will take place concurrently with the fifth annual Songleader Boot Camp National Conference, an intensive three-day national leadership training program that will bring approximately 200 rabbis, cantors, Jewish educators, teachers, songleaders and representatives from  Jewish organizations across the United States and internationally to St. Louis Feb. 16-18.  Hosted by the St. Louis Jewish Community Center, more than 40 local Jewish educators and leaders will attend SLBC through scholarships provided by the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.
