Solomon Schechter receives reaccreditation

Solomon Schechter Day School, 348 South Mason Road in Creve Coeur, has received its reaccreditation from the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).

According to William C. Rowe, interim Head of School, successful reaccreditation is the culmination of a seven-year accreditation cycle for all 230 ISACS member schools, which span the Midwest from Ohio to Kansas and Minnesota to Arkansas. Following a year of intensive self-study, each school is visited by a team of educators from other member schools, who report back to ISACS and to the school itself with a series of commendations on the school’s strengths and recommendations for improvements. Assuming the association’s criteria are met, the school then receives its letter of reaccreditation, good for another seven years. In Solomon Schechter’s case, that letter was dated June 27, 2011.

Rowe’s term at Solomon Schechter began on July 1 and will continue through June 30, 2012, during which time the school will conduct a search for a long-term Head. Rowe states that he is “delighted to have been chosen for this position at an important point in the history of Solomon Schechter.”
