‘Sneak a Peek’ to offer parenting tips for guiding curious learners

Kindergartners at Mirowitz are the caretakers of the school’s amphibian pond, one of the school’s nine outdoor learning labs. Parents can learn how and why to take lessons outdoors during Sneak a Peek at Mirowitz, Nov. 8.

Parents are invited to enjoy a night out and learn how they can help their children grow to become curious learners and ethical leaders at a workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School, 348 South Mason Road in Creve Coeur. The workshop will include the following sessions from Mirowitz teachers:

• What’s Jewish about the solar eclipse? Learning through a Jewish lens.

• True grit: How STEAM teaches resiliency and leads to success

• Bilingual brains: Expanding the mind with a second language

• Doing what’s right: Empowering children to pursue justice

• Hands on kindergarten: Learning in a ‘constructivist’ classroom

• Just right books: Teacher choices for young children

• Out to learn: How (and why) to take lessons outdoors.

• What difference a Jewish day school makes: The impact of day school on Jewish knowledge, identity and ethics
