Six13, the popular Jewish a cappella group, has released a new video just in time for Rosh Hashanah 5785. Known for its creative parodies, Six13 presents “5785,” a playful twist on Bowling for Soup’s pop-rock classic “1985.”
The video prominently features Lior Melnick, the group’s bass vocalist and a Creve Coeur native. Melnick, 30, attended Solomon Schechter Day School (now Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School) and is a member of Traditional Congregation. Now a transportation engineer based in New York City, Melnick said he hopes the song will bring joy during challenging times.
“I know yesterday was a tense and sad day for Jews and Israel. Hopefully, our song helps Jews celebrate the new year with a bit of joy during a tough time,” Melnick said. “Here’s to our future looking bright in 5785.”
Founded more than 15 years ago, Six13 is anchored by its strong Jewish identity and driven by a mission to connect Jews worldwide through music. The group is known for its harmonies, intricate arrangements, and dynamic sound that mimics a full band, all done with just their voices. From Taylor Swift to ABBA parodies, Six13 has made a name for itself by infusing Jewish holiday celebrations with pop culture fun.
As always, the group encourages fans to subscribe, comment, and share their latest video. To learn more about Six13, visit their website, where you can explore their full catalog of Jewish-themed musical parodies.
