Shalom Baby announces new collaboration

In an effort to more effectively serve families with young children, the Central Agency for Jewish Education’s Concierge for Families with Young Children now has primary responsibility for the Shalom Baby Program. In this new model, Jayne Langsam, the Concierge for Families with Young Children, will be the contact for Shalom Baby visits, website maintenance and referrals.

CAJE recognizes the value of the volunteers who have previously made the Shalom Baby visits, and will work in tandem with the Jewish Community Center staff to enhance those relationships.

The Shalom Baby program has been extending a hand of friendship to families who have recently experienced the birth or adoption of a child for many years and has long been regarded as one of the premier infant outreach programs in the country.

Through this program, many families are introduced to the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, the JCC, congregations and other Jewish organizations and are connected to areas of interest for their family.

Shalom Baby relies on the community to provide names of Jewish families who have recently experienced the birth or adoption of a new baby.  A free home visit is arranged and each family receives a goody bag filled with donated items from various Jewish organizations, as well as a wealth of helpful information and resources for young families.  The website shalombabystl.org serves as another helpful source of information for new moms.

Provide names and contact information to Jayne Langsam at CAJE: [email protected] or 314-442-3870. Those interested can also sign up for a visit on the program website. This program is partially funded by the Lubin-Green Foundation.
