Shaare Emeth to hold annual Mitzvah Day

On May 16, Congregation Shaare Emeth will hold its 13th Annual Mitzvah Day. The day begins at 8 a.m. with check-in and breakfast at the Temple. After a kickoff ceremony at 8:30 a.m., about 500 participants will disperse throughout the building and the community to take part in one of 39 different projects.

There are projects for people of all ages and all abilities.  Activities include gardening in city parks and private organizations, cooking meals, making crafts with entertaining nursing home residents and assembling food packages. The Confirmation Class will work together to mulch and weed walking paths along Grant’s Trail.

Ted Houser, this year’s chairperson, has worked with about 60 volunteers since November coordinating the effort. The community is invited to participate.  Register at www.shaare-emeth.org or contact Vera Emmons at 314-569-0010.
