Shaare Emeth to dedicate updated preschool library in honor of Alan Greenberg
Published March 2, 2011
Shaare Emeth Congregation, together with Shirlee Green Preschool, have announced the grand re-opening of the preschool’s library from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 6.
The updated library, renamed the “Alan Greenberg Resource Room,” is a gift as part of an endowment fund established to honor the memory of Alan Greenberg. Greenberg was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather to Sharon Greenberg, their children, Tod and Stefanie Greenberg and Dan and Darcy Glidewell, and their grandchildren, who include Shirlee Green preschool graduates Emma and Abby Greenberg and current preschool students, Natalie and Allison Glidewell.
The Greenberg/Glidewell family’s endowment fund will also support the creation of a “Wish Tree” program that will allow for community donations. Made from different shades of metals, the wish tree will be located directly outside the new resource room.
People will have the opportunity to make donations on behalf of family members, students, friends and teachers. Their donation will be symbolized as leaves added to the tree in the form of two different sized leaves, depending on the size of the donation. Half of all proceeds will go directly to Shirlee Green Preschool allowing for the continuation of current early childhood programs and the other half will be put into the Greenberg/Glidewell endowment fund to be used for future programming with Shaare Emeth’s religious school.
Congregation Shaare Emeth is located at the corner of Ladue and Ballas in Creve Coeur. For more information about the resource room, call Preschool Director Cheri Winchell at 314-692-5320.
