Shaare Emeth plans Adult University May 11

Congregation Shaare Emeth will hold its Adult University from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, May 11. Participants will attend a keynote panel discussion and choose two breakout sessions from several options. The keynote panel will feature three generations of Jewish leaders discussing issues facing the Jewish People: Rabbi Jim Bennett, Jewish Light Editor-in-Chief Emeritus Robert A. Cohn and Rabbi Jonah Zinn.
Breakout sessions will include:
• “Jewish Peoplehood Through Art,” a hands-on workshop with local Jewish Brazilian fabric artist Berta Goldgaber (limited spots available)
• “A Recap of the Jewish Community Study,” with Shaare Emeth President Greg Yawitz and Jewish Federation’s Susan Scribner
• “A Jewish Music Sampler: Discussion of Music, Prayer and Practices from Around the World,” with Cantor Seth Warner
• “Race, Religion and What It Means to Us,” with volunteers from Cultural Leadership, a local organization that brings together Jewish and African-American teens.
