Shaare Emeth holds ‘Beit Sefer Cafe’

For three consecutive Wednesdays, March 5, 12 and 19, the Shaare Emeth Lifelong Learning Committee, under the auspices of the Dr. Stanley B. Lyss Lecture Series, will “open” a Beit Sefer Caf é at the temple. Combining the atmospheres of a beit sefer, a house of learning and a beit caf é, a coffee house, the Beit Sefer Caf é will provide an opportunity to learn, socialize and connect with others.

Over the course of each evening, participants will have the opportunity to attend two classes. Classes will either be “Triple Shots,” continuing for all three weeks, or “One Shot Deals” that will be completed in a single session. Among the Triple Shot classes this year are “Israel at 60”, taught by Rabbi Jeffrey Stiffman, “Prayerful Music and Musical Prayers” led by Cantor Seth Warner, and “Dr. Seuss and Jewish Tradition” with educator Michael Raileanu. One Shot Deals include “Israeli Dancing,” “Judaism and the Arts,” and “Voting Your Values.”

The March 5 Judaism and the Arts One Shot session will be a special Israeli Art with Israel Festival of the Arts curator Manachem Safrai.

The Israeli Festival of the Arts will be held in the building March 5-9.

The cost for the Caf é is $7 per week or $18 for the entire series. For questions or to register, contact Susan Murray at 314-569-0010.
