Scholarships offered for teen travel to Israel

The Central Agency for Jewish Education and the Jewish Federation of St. Louis announce the availability of the following scholarship opportunities for teen travel to Israel:

• An incentive-based scholarship is available to teens currently in grades 9-11.  $750 grants will be awarded to 36 teens based on a short essay, activities in the Jewish community and a willingness to serve as an Israel travel advocate throughout the community.  Passport to Israel participants that are awarded a grant will also receive $18 for each year a matching contribution was made.  The application deadline for this grant is Jan. 10.

• The Stuart I. Pessin Fund will award $1,250 to two students in grades 9-12.  The awardees will be selected based on an essay, their activities in the Jewish community and commitment to continued Jewish education.  The application deadline for this grant is Feb. 11.

• Need-based scholarship funds are also available for teen travel to Israel.  The application deadline for this grant is Feb. 19.
